Tie Break Policy

Rules of Play

OSBA games consist of 10-minute quarters. In the event of a tie game at the end of regulation time, additional periods the duration of 5-minutes will be played one at a time, until such time as the score at the end of the period is not tied.

Standings

Any OSBA event that uses standing to determine progression of a team (tournament, regular season , playoffs, or otherwise) to the next level of play will use the following procedures to determine the team that moves forward.

In the event of a tie at the end of the defined period of play (Pool Play, Regular Season Play, tournament play, etc).

Metric 1: Most Wins

The team with the most wins will be given priority ranking.

Metric 2: Head-to-head Results

The team with the better record in head-to-head games moves forward. Higher point differential within head-to-head games. Highest winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division). Highest point differential within division. Highest winning percentage against opposing division. Highest point differential across entire season.

Coin-Toss. Three-Team Tiebreaker Points for and against between the three tied teams will be used. Highest winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division). Highest point differential within division. Highest winning percentage against opposing division.

Highest point differential across entire season. Number draw - team that draws highest number would be awarded the highest seed among tied team.
