DIVISION LEADERS STAY ON TOP THIS WEEK IN THE OSBA

This week’s GOTW action featured two exciting games, one from both the Women’s and Men’s divisions. Crestwood Prep proved why it is a championship favourite with a dominant win over St. Jude’s Academy on Tuesday night. To close out the week, Royal Crown rebounded from their first loss of the season, edging out William Academy in a close game on Wednesday. 

 

CRESTWOOD PREPARATORY COLLEGE VS ST. JUDE'S ACADEMY

 

  • Date: Tuesday, January 28th, 2025
  • Division: OSBA Women’s West Division
  • Final Score: Crestwood Prep 88, St. Jude’s Academy 58
 

Crestwood Prep kicked off the Game of the Week schedule with a dominant 88-58 win over St. Jude’s Academy. Crestwood’s hot start on offence and persistence on defence built a lead from which St. Jude’s couldn’t recover.

 
Top Performers:
 
  • Crestwood Prep: Brooke McLeod led all scorers with 24 points, while teammates Avery Arije and Stella Evens added 19 and 15 points, respectively.
  • St. Jude’s Academy: Simran Lail led all St. Jude’s scorers with 18 points.
 
Team Records & Rankings:
 
  • Crestwood Prep moves to 8-0, retaining their No. 1 ranking in the West Division.

  • St. Jude’s falls to 5-2 with the loss, but still retains their No. 2 ranking in the West. 

 

Crestwood remains undefeated and is now riding an eight-game winning streak, with its offence averaging 86.1 points per game during that span. The team is ranked No. 1 in the West Division and remains a championship favourite as the season heads down the stretch. St. Jude’s struggled defensively and will need to bounce back quickly next week against a tough Orangeville Prep team.

 

WILLIAM ACADEMY VS. ROYAL CROWN

 

  • Date: Wednesday, January 29th, 2025
  • Division: OSBA Men’s East Division
  • Final Score: Royal Crown 66, William Academy 65
 

Royal Crown bounced back from their loss to Crestwood Prep last week with a narrow 66-65 road win over William Academy. The win marks the second time this season that the Lions have beaten the Vikings, this time overcoming a six-point deficit entering the fourth quarter. William Academy’s untimely mistakes down the stretch allowed Royal Crown to seal the win with key defensive stops.  

 
Top Performers:
 
  • Royal Crown: Justus Haseley led all Crown players with 12 points, while teammates Yann Aphely and Caleb Zhu dropped 11 and nine points, respectively.
  • William Academy: Cameron Ewers led all scorers with 15 points and Efeosa Oloigu dropped 13 in support. 
 
Team Records & Rankings:
 
  • Royal Crown moves to 8-1 and is still ranked No. 1 in the East Division.
  • William Academy dropped to 4-4, but retains their No. 2 ranking in the East.
 

Royal Crown, now 8-1 and ranked No. 1 in the East, has shown resilience by bouncing back from a loss to defeat another top team in the division—a valuable trait heading into the playoffs.

Despite the loss, William Academy demonstrated it can compete with the league’s best and remains a strong contender in the East at No. 2.

The excitment continues this weekend as OSBA hosts the Grind Session Canada at Royal Crown school in Scarborough with the action kicking off at 3: 15p.m EST on Friday, January 31st.
