Game of the Week Recap: Post-Game Review

This week’s GOTW action showcased two exciting matchups from the Men’s and Women’s divisions. Crestwood Prep opened the week with a narrow victory over Polaris Prep, solidifying its position as the No. 2 seed in the East. The schedule wrapped up with King’s Christian earning a playoff berth in Women’s OSBA action, defeating Bond Academy in a play-in game.

 

CRESTWOOD PREPARATORY COLLEGE VS POLARIS PREP

  • Division: OSBA Men’s East and West Division
  • Final Score: Crestwood 87, Polaris Prep 83
 

Crestwood Prep opened the Game of the Week schedule with a hard-fought 87-83 win over Polaris Prep. The Lions started strong but found themselves trailing at halftime, as Polaris took a 42-36 lead. The game remained tight down the stretch, with Polaris leading 76-75 with just under five minutes to play. However, Crestwood stepped up defensively, limiting Polaris to just seven points in the final four minutes while adding 12 of their own on offence to close out the win.

  • Crestwood Prep: Mangok Lok Gach led Crestwood scorers with 20 points, while Christopher Tshibola and Miles Dehaney added 17 and 15, respectively
  • Polaris Prep: Cyrus Hasbaan led Polaris scorers with 18 points, while Burak Kurulay added 17 in support

  • Crestwood Prep: Crestwood moves to 7-6 with the win and is still ranked No. 2 in the East
  • Polaris Prep: Polaris falls to 6-7 after the loss and sits at No. 4 in the West
 

Crestwood Prep bounced back with a crucial win after back-to-back losses to Royal Crown and Hodan Prep. The team remains ranked No. 2 in the East Division and is set to face the No. 3 seed in the West, Lincoln Prep, in the first round of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Polaris Prep will now have to fight for a postseason spot in a play-in game against the No. 5 seed in the East, J. Addison, with a play-off berth on the line.

 

WOMEN’S WEST DIVISION PLAY-IN GAME: BOND ACADEMY VS KING’S CHRISTIAN

  • Division: OSBA Women’s East and West Division
  • Final Score: King’s Christian 80, Bond Academy 32
 

King’s Christian closed out the Game of the Week schedule with a dominant 80-32 play-in victory over Bond Academy. The offence started strong, jumping out to a 20-6 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 39-16 by halftime. King’s Christian maintained its intensity in the second half, consistently attacking the basket and building a lead that Bond Academy couldn’t overcome.

 
Top Performers:
 
  • King’s Christian: Carletta Bennett led all scorers with 18 points, while Alex Newson and Emma Dongelmans added 14 and 12, respectively
  • Bond Academy: Aniya Lawrence led Bond scorers with 10 points, while Jersey Waito added 9 in support
 
Team Records & Rankings:
 
  • King’s Christian: King’s Christian moves to 9-4 with the win and moves onto the playoffs
  • Bond Academy: Bond falls to 2-11 with the loss and is now eliminated from contention
 

King’s Christian has secured a postseason spot with the win and now faces a tough matchup against the No. 2 seed in the East, Royal Crown. The two teams did not meet during the regular season, setting the stage for a hard-fought battle. With the loss, Bond Academy is eliminated from playoff contention, bringing its season to an end.
